At LG we love designers and artists who 'mix it all up' to invent new and exciting installations that affect the way we perceive the public realm and Rafael Lozano is the master of this. Check out Rafael Lozano's huge installation "Solar Equation" that consists of a faithful simulation of the Sun, 100 million times smaller than the real thing. Commissioned by the Light in Winter Festival in Melbourne, the piece features the world’s largest spherical balloon, custom-manufactured for the project, which is tethered over Federation Square. Rafael Lozano-Hemmer is best known for creating theatrical interactive in public spaces across Europe, Asia and America. Using robotics, real-time computer graphics, film projections, positional sound, internet links, cell phone interfaces, video and ultrasonic sensors, LED screens and other devices, his installations seek to interrupt the increasingly homogenized urban condition by providing critical platforms for participation. As an outgrowth of these various large scale and performance-based projects Lozano-Hemmer documents the works in photography editions that are also exhibited.
