Cyclists know all too well the dangers and challenges of riding through the city at night. This little bit of blue sky thinking is a cracking idea. The idea is a bring-your-own bike lane, fashioned by lasers pointed at the asphalt beside your bike that extend up to 10 feet behind you. The designers at Altitude Inc. are currently building a prototype of the device, called LightLane, which they hope to have ready in a few months. By mounting the LightLane under your bicycle seat, you would boost your visibility to nighttime drivers and (hopefully) mark extra space around you. We look forward to seeing the real thing in the flesh as soon as it comes to market.
